Belot Online

Overview

Technologies

  • A web version of Bulgarian Belot – four players, two teams, in the browser. Full rules: bidding through to no-trumps and all-trumps, declarations, doubling, and the standard scoring.

  • A personal project, designed and built end to end – the rules engine, the AI opponents, multiplayer, the interface, and delivery.

  • A rules engine implementing Bulgarian Belot rather than the French variant, handling legal-play validation, declaration detection, trick resolution and scoring.

  • AI opponents run on hand-built decision logic rather than a generic solver – bidding judged on trump length and honours, card counting and void tracking through the hand, partner signalling, and drawing trumps when the side holds the length to do it.

  • Multiplayer with seamless substitution in both directions. A player can join a table mid-game and take over a bot’s seat and its hand; a player who leaves is replaced by a bot that picks up where they left off, so the game never stalls on an empty seat.

  • HTML and JavaScript client with a PHP backend, with game and session state held in a database. Sessions persist for 24 hours before being voided.
